I’m excited to share news of a new release.
A Winter’s Romance, Volume 2: A Regency Anthology is another collection of six short stories by six different romance writers. Set in England during the Regency period these tales are designed to brighten your winter days and fill them with romance and happy endings.
My story, ‘The Lie’, is a second chance romance.
Tristan Deedes arrives in Oxford in not the best of tempers. He doesn’t like Oxford because it holds unpleasant memories –– memories that he can’t forget. But loyalty to his nearest family in the shape of his nephew, Giles, has meant that Tristan has left his comfortable home near Bath at the worst time of year for travelling in order to help Giles out of a scrape. If only he can get the business sorted without an encounter with the one woman who broke his heart.
Tilda Nugent has resigned herself to remaining an old maid. The man she had fallen in love with so many years ago was revealed to be nothing but a fortune hunter. How could she have been deceived?
Her parents’ death prior to this devastating revelation had left her brother, Martin, as head of the family: two unconnected events that changed the course of her life. On Martin’s death, Tilda had been forced to take employment as a chaperone to wealthy banker’s daughter, Daphne Draper because Martin had gambled the family fortune away. Tilda’s future was bleak.
Mrs Grover, the landlady of the Mitre Inn on High Street, Oxford prides herself that her establishment caters only to the better class of customer. It could be a stay of a night or two for a disgruntled traveller or a place where a young lady and her chaperone can enjoy refreshments when on a shopping trip to Oxford.
One winter’s day that is exactly what happens when Tristan and Tilda encounter one another in the Mitre Inn. After not seeing each other for twelve years will fate gift them a second chance at love?
Join me and my fellow authors, GL Robinson, Audrey Harrison, Judith Hale Everett, Christina Dudley, and Jayne Davis, and banish those winter blues with these delightful Regency romance short stories!
